At the Salinas Public Library, we are committed to helping every member of our community achieve their educational and vocational goals, as well as providing safe and inclusive spaces for residents to meet, learn and connect with one another.
The Salinas Public Library has proudly served the community since 1909 when it first opened its doors as a Carnegie library. Today, there are three library locations that provides hundreds of thousands of educational and entertaining books, audiobooks, DVDs, Blu-rays, music CDs, newspapers and magazines, for free community borrowing with a library card. Our Digital Library available 24/7 to provide research resources along with digital downloads and streaming services.
Library programs are available year-round for all ages and with various themes that meets the needs of Salinas community.
Video Games Now Available for Checkout!

The Salinas Public Library is happy to announce that we now have video games available for checkout!
We currently have games for the following systems: Xbox One, Playstation 4, and Nintendo Switch. All games are rated Teen and below and are available to be borrowed for 7 days! Limit 2 games per card and with no renewals at this time.
The games are available for browsing and checkout from the El Gabilan Library but can be reserved at any Salinas Public Library branch.

No More Overdue Fines!

Salinas Public Library is excited to announce that effective July 1st, 2022, overdue or late fines for all library patrons has been eliminated. This move was approved by the City Council through the removal of late fines for adult materials from the 2023 City-wide schedule of fees at the April 26th City Council Meeting, In addition to the elimination of late fines, the Library has been implementing automatic renewal on eligible items since late 2021 to allow for worry-free borrowing.

Summer Learning Program Starts June 6

Summer Learning Program is starting soon!
The Summer Learning Program begins June 6th and continues thru July 30th. Join us for fun and engaging free activities all summer long. A variety of drop-in and registration-based programs will be offered throughout the summer to promote learning and exploration. This year will also have a return to in-person activities and live performers.
This summer will include:
- Summer Reading Challenge
- Book prizes
- In-person programs
- Live Performances
