Engineering
The Engineering Division:
- is responsible for implementing and managing the City's Capital Improvement Projects
- provides project management services for the planning, design, inspection, and construction of public facilities
- provides engineering services for other City departments and the public
- ensures the compliance of engineering standards necessary for the protection of public health and safety
- provides administrative support for the Public Works Department
- supervises and controls the Department’s operating and project budgets
- manages all city-owned property, including leases and rents
- provides administrative oversight of all maintenance, assessment, and parking districts, and administrative oversight of all Public Works grants
- acquires property as needed for projects
- administers programs dealing with energy efficiency, environmental and labor compliance for Public works projects
- and responds to citizen complaints and inquiries.

Bardin Road Safe Routes to School Paving

BARDIN ROAD SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL PROJECT
Full Depth Reclamation (FDR) paving will occur along Bardin Road between Williams Road and Sconberg Parkway between June and July 2022. Slurry Seal will occur along Alisal Road between Bardin Road and Tampa Street between July and August 2022. FDR is a multi-phase process; therefore, operations, cure times, and stages of construction for each travel lane will vary. Chip Seal Project Update

The City of Salinas has contracted with VSS International to for the Chip Seal Project at various locations throughout the City. Work is scheduled to begin Monday, May 16, 2022 and last approximately 4 weeks.
Construction hours will be from 9:00AM to 4:00PM, Monday through Friday . Although there are no anticipated road closures, traffic delays are likely. Please allow additional travel time or use alternate routes where possible. Roadway users, residents, and business are asked to please be mindful of all traffic control, “No Parking” signs, equipment, and construction personnel.
